Cherry Almond Smoothie Recipe

Enjoy this delicious summer smoothie with a secret nutritional boost

Everyone loves a smoothie to help them cool off during the summer. This Cherry Almond Smoothie is sure to quench your thirst and satisfy your sweet tooth while also giving you a nutrition boost. This recipe can be used to make a smoothie or a smoothie bowl. If you're in the mood for a bowl, adding more greek yogurt or almond butter, while using less liquid makes for a thicker consistency.


Cherry Almond Smoothie

Ingredients

Frozen Cauliflower Rice (the secret nutritional boost you can't taste)

This is a great way to sneak some veggies into your smoothie. When combined with the other ingredients, you can't even taste it! Three quarters-cup has 2g of fiber (7% of the RDA) and 41mg of Vitamin C (45% of the RDA)!

Frozen Cherries

Cherries help fight inflammation and disease, are great for a goodnights sleep, help soothe sore muscles, can help ease arthritis pain, are great for your heart, improve blood sugar levels (because of their low glycemic load), and can lower cancer risk [2]!

Greek Yogurt

Adding greek yogurt to your smoothie is a great way to add some protein and "clothe your carbs".

Almond Extract

This is key as it gives the smoothie its "almondy" flavor.

Vanilla Extract

Almond Butter

Adding almond butter to your smoothie is another great way to add some fat to "clothe your carbs".

Your Desired Liquid (ex. Almond milk, Milk, Water, Coconut Water)

Tart Cherry Juice (or honey)

Tart cherry juice is a delicious way to add extra cherry flavor. Just make sure to buy a brand with no added sugars! This ingredient is totally optional! You could use honey instead or another sweetener. You may also find you like the smoothie without the juice or honey.

Chia seeds

Flax seeds

Spinach

Cherry Almond Smoothie:

Ingredients:

3/4 cup Frozen Cauliflower Rice

1 1/2 cups Frozen Cherries

1/4 cup Greek Yogurt

1/2 teaspoon Almond Extract

1/2 teaspoonVanilla Extract

1/2 tablespoon Almond Butter

Your Desired liquid to preferred consistency

Optional: Add in about 1 tablespoon of Tart Cherry Juice or another sweetener


Instructions:
  1. Put all ingredients into blender.

  2. Blend. Continue adding liquid until desired consistency is reached.
